Top 5 Completely Undeveloped Nifty Concepts
This year we’ve seen a lot of concepts presented and I felt like that it would be a total waste not to have the top 5 coolest concepts presented in one place. Ranging from architectural ideas to concept cars this article will present the hottest concepts of this year.
I for one think that these concepts always represent a step forward for humanity - to many people, these ideas may seem like crazy but for me the people that had them look like visionaries.
Not few were the cases where people had “crazy” ideas that changed the way we live or have brought innovations in our life.
1) The Honeycomb skyscraper building
The latest innovation in architecture seems to be the Honeycomb building - with no internal structure and with a height of 1,117 feet. The building was designed by MAD architects. Aside from the honeycomb looking structure, the windows are also of different sizes - designed like this to minimize the heat loss in the winter and the heat gain in the summer.
2) The magical Tricycle
This one of the greatest conceptual vehicles at the time - switching easily between a motorcycle and a tricycle. Besides the fact it looks absolutely amazing this vehicle was designed for the future - having the current pollution problems as references. The seats rotate in such way that they’ll always keep the occupants sitting upright.
3) The eco-friendly kitchen
With all the fuss about eco-friendly devices, it seems that Whirlpool had it’s take presenting the so called ” Green Kitchen” which seems to be a very interesting concept. It’s supposed to use the heat and water generated by other kitchen appliances and re-use it. For example, the heat generated from the fridge compressor could be used to heat the sink water.
4) The no-keys Glass Keyboard
We’ve seen many keyboard concepts in the past, but this one beats them all. It’s a keyboard with no keys - instead of keys, the keyboard is using state of the art motion capture technology to capture all the keystrokes ( hopefully). It seems that the waterproof problem has “washed” away.
5) Diabetes monitoring car
According to some, operating a vehicle during a diabetic blood sugar crash can be quite dangerous and that’s why Medtronic Diabetes has released the M-Powered concept car which constantly monitors your glucose level warning you both visually and audio when the level is critical.
With data transmitted via Bluetooth, the wireless setup lets people wearing a continuous glucose-monitoring system (CGMS) get readings of their blood sugar levels through audio and visual cues from the car’s dashboard
That’s our top 5 of concepts for this year - if you have anything to add don’t hesitate.

4): A keyboard with zero overtravel really sucks. Imagine trying to do serious work on the control panel of a microwave oven.
5): How? My blood glucose meter needs a drop of blood. I’ve never heard of a noninvasive monitoring technique. Is the driver expected to stick a needle in his arm before he starts up?

@paresh - Thanks for the comment
@Steve - The keyboard still is a good concept and although it may not be practical for everyday computer enthusiasts, for a regular person that uses the computer for no more than 2 hours everyday it’s a nifty addition.
As for the diabetes monitoring car I think I’ve answered your question within the post.
Thanks both for commenting.

That keyboard isn’t so undeveloped. Check this out.

Cool post! It’s amazing how quickly technology continues to change. Just 30 years ago — this would have been considered impossible. Thanks for sharing!

Looks pretty cool. The building is always interesting, though I dunno if the keyboard would be good or not.

@Steve
I can see the glass keyboard having slight indentations where each of the keys would be. I think that would take care of the problem.

I dont see the point of the glass keyboard they already have keyboards that are laser projected onto a surface so its not all that advanced

The glass keyboard is a horrible idea. Aside from the complete lack of tactile response, typing on a hard object is actually really hard on the hands and will result in a ton of wrist injuries such as carpel tunnel or tendonitis.
Also, how will the building be wired? There has to be an elevator shaft, electricity, and sewage supplied to each of those levels and a central structure around the elevator shaft makes the most sense.

@Jenny
You might be right regarding the building, as for the keyword, it’s just a concept as the title says.
I agree that for some it might be uncomfortable to type on a hard surface, but the “magic” lies in the fact it can be projected almost anywhere.
