Asus presents the P552w - a touchscreen phone

General information about P552w

Last Friday, Asus announced its latest handset : the P552w, a highly competitive and feature packed hand-held device. Boasting a 620MHz CPU and a 2.8″ QVGA display that can render at a 240×320 resolution the cellphone brings forward something new, a technology called ‘Gester’. This new technology Asus claims to have discovered is somewhat similar to HTC’s software called TouchFloTouchFLO is an user-interface designed by HTC. It is used by dragging your finger up the screen and moving your finger left and right to access common tasks. TouchFLO was used in the HTC Touch Family of Pocket PCs and was succeeded by TouchFLO 3D.

Gester is according to Asus cutting-edge technology that enables users to perform a variety of navigational actions – such as selecting, zooming, scrolling and flipping – easily through simple flicks of their fingers.

Brief overview of the tech specs

Besides the already mentioned tech specs, the cellphone also integrates wireless connectivity, more precisely : Bluetooth 2.0 ( with A2DP ) and WiFi 802.11(b+g). Besides that, we’ll also get HSDPA / UMTS radios, GPS connectivity, 256MB of flash memory, 128MB of DDR memory plus support for microSD / SDHC cards. Although not very impressive but worth mentioning it also features a 2MP fixed focus camera.

As for the software part, Asus claims their phone will come somehow ‘Google ready’, integrating both Asus and Google technology : Google Maps, Anytime Launcher, ASUS Today, Multi-Home, EziMusic and EziPhoto.

Logitech presents thinest keyboard ever made

Logitech announced yesterday amongst a set of other keyboards, its latest product : the Illuminated keyboard ( pictured on the left), the thinnest keyboard ever made - measuring only 9.3 mm in thickness .

Amongst its features we can spot an adjustable back light, soft-touch palm rest and dedicated multimedia keys.

Priced at only $80, this keyboard has been announced to launch in October and we love it.

I for one, have been a Logitech fan ever since I was a gamer - back in those days, everything Logitech was the ultimate gaming gear - at least for me.

Asus Vito W1 heart monitoring mouse

Asus vito W1 heart monitoring mouse pictureApparently, the need to combine condition monitoring devices with almost anything around us has become a trend. Although we don’t have anything against it, and we’ve actually put one product on our Top 5 nifty concepts of this year ( the diabetes monitoring car ) this one is utterly useless. Besides the possibilities of checking your heart rate when you’re playing a breathtaking game or checking the stock market, there isn’t too much to this mouse. It comes bundled with a pulse rate sensor that will send the information to a simple heart-monitoring software which will interpret the data and display an emoticon on your screen, correspondent to your heart rate. It comes with a smallish USB driver, a sensitivity of 1200dpi, a maximum range of 30 feet ( 9,1 meters ) and 5 programmable buttons. No word on a price nor on a release date just yet.
