Asus has its take at Samsung’s Omnia - develops Glaxy7

Short overview of the cellphone

With Samsung’s Omnia success, it seems like everyone’s taking shots at it - including Asus. According to some well rumored sources, this might be Samsung’s biggest challenger, featuring a 5MP camera and a 3.5″ touchscreen display that can render anything at a 800×480 resolution.

From what I could tell from some leaked photos, the cellphone seemed to have a front camera as well, leaving me with the thought it might also feature 3G connectivity.

The design part is pretty impressive, featuring an outer-casing made out of stainless steel and a monochromatic minimalist design. Regarding the tech specs, the word is that the cellphone is going to have a 4GB internal memory - with expansion possibility via a microSD card - and all the wireless connectivity you can think of ( WiFi, Bluetooth, aGPS ), all incorporated into a 13,8mm thick cellphone.

Oh, did I mention it also includes an Accelerometer ? I wouldn’t be surprised to see some of Apple’s iPhone functionality amongst it’s features.

Top 5 cellphones of this month

This month has been a really busy one considering the amount of cellphones that have been launched, some of them focus on design, some on offering state of the art tech specs while some focus mostly on usability and target a certain audience. We’ll let you decide which one offers the best combination between design, usability and tech specs :

1) LG’s KC910

LG KC910 cellphone picture

A cool looking phone, that integrates a 8MP camera, Bluetooth, WiFi, TV output and built-in GPS.

2) HTC S740

HTC S740 cellphone picture

HTC has always been a company that has delivered good quality products. Combining almost perfectly a great design with smartphone features, a 3.2Mp camera, a QWERTY sliding keyboard, WiFi and built-in GPS.

3) Nokia N96

Nokia N96 cellphone picture

I personally have always been a fan of Nokia phones, it’s something like a cult I think. Once you’ve gone Nokia, you can’t really go back. The N96 designers seem to have learned from N95’s mistakes and have made things better. With a better looking design, a 5MP auto-focus camera, 16GB of internal storage, WiFi and assisted GPS this phone kicks-ass, literally.

4) Sony Ericsson C902

Titanium Silver C902 cellphone picture

Have you always been a fan of James Bond movies ? I for one can’t say I’ve been, but I’ve always loved the gadgets Bond flashes before our eyes in every movie. With nothing out of the ordinary regarding tech specs, this phone features a 5MP camera and a theme inspired by the 007.

5) Verizon’s TXT8010

Verizon TXT8010 cellphone picture

A phone that’s not giving too much to gadget enthusiasts, photography enthusiasts or design savvy people. It’s strongest point is the fact it’s only priced at $70, comes with a 1.3MP camera, a sliding QWERTY keyboard and that’s about it. Oh, did we mention it’s meant for the teens ?

If you’ve seen a cellphone that you think it’s worth mentioned, let us know using the form below.

Samsung announces eco-friendly cellphone

Samsung E200 Eco cellphone pictureAlthough Samsung has had it’s first take at eco-friendly cellphones this last June in Asia with their hybrid cellphones made out of bioplastic and regular plastic it looks like now they’re back. Apparently that their latest product - the E200 Eco - is completely made out of bioplastic - a corn based plastic. Unlike traditional plastics, which are derived from (non-renewable) petroleum-based products, bioplastics are derived from (renewable) biological sources, such as corn.

Featuring a 1.3 MP camera and MP3 player functionality it looks like Samsung is aiming towards a less tech-savvy audience and a more green loving one. As announced, the E200 Eco will be available in Europe in September - release date for America hasn’t been announced yet - and if you were wondering the packaging is also made out of recyclable materials. I’ve got to say the phone is looking pretty ‘corny’ at this time.

Meizu M8 caught on film {phone unreleased}

If the last iPhone replica was not enough for you, we’re pleased to present you the Meizu M8 which is being developed by J. Wong and his team.

According to a post on Engadget this phone was announced to be released to the public this year in February and March - it appears it’s not entirely true. After numerous tweaks and makeovers this phone still isn’t ready to be presented to the public other than in pictures.

According to some sources, they seem to be putting the finishing touches on their device’s web browser, and as shocking as this may seem their inspiration is Nokia. Visit this link for more pics but don’t expect to find a release date or price because you won’t.
